Internship: Build a Sensor Configuration Dashboard (Python, Dash)
Com&Sens develops monitoring solutions for vessels and industrial structures using Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors. These sensors are used to measure strain and temperature and help engineers monitor structural behaviour throughout the lifetime of a structure.
To support our engineering team, we are looking for an intern to help build an internal dashboard that simplifies the configuration of sensor layouts.
Internship
Engineers currently use a collection of Python notebooks and scripts to configure sensors and generate output files. The goal of this internship is to bring this workflow together in a single Dash application that is easier to use and maintain.
Users should be able to create a sensor configuration, visualize the result, validate the setup, and export the required files from one application.
Your assignment
- Convert the existing notebook logic into a modular Dash application.
- Build an interactive 3D visualization of the sensor layout using Plotly.
- Implement automatic sensor positioning based on predefined rules.
- Add validation for sensor spacing, naming conventions, wavelength allocation etc.
- Generate CSV, Excel and HTML output files.
- Store templates, configurations and run history in PostgreSQL.
- Write clear documentation so the application can be maintained and extended.
